The Rams were awarded safety Anthony Smith from the Pittsburgh Steelers and I thought his name sounded familiar.
When the New England Patriots were 12-0 in 2007, Smith was a 3rd-round pick from 2006 out of Syracuse and he guaranteed that the Steelers would beat the New England Patriots in Foxboro. As we all know, Smith’s guarantee did not come true and the Patriots targetted Smith all night with their all-seeing eye. After a touchdown pass, Tom Brady saught out Smith to tell him just how much of a low-life he was for daring to think he could beat the “unbeatable team”. Smith’s career went downhill from there and led to his release on Saturday.
Smith is a good pickup for the Rams as he has starting experience with a top-tier defense. And he’s not short on confidence which is ideal for any NFL player.
The Rams were also awarded DT LaJuan Ramsey.
