Carriker Needs Surgery, Possibly Out for Season

League sources told the Post-Dispatch on Friday afternoon that Carriker will need surgery on the shoulder, and that the injury could be season ending. Carriker previously had suffered an injury in the same shoulder in the 2007 season finale at Arizona that required surgery. The recovery and rehab from that injury slowed him at the start of last season.

From Around the Horns blog. Carriker may never be healthy as he has never had a full healthy season in the NFL. The season is probably over before it started for Carriker in 2009.  Considering Carriker was on the second team in the 4th preseason game, there is no reason to rush him back into the lineup in 2009.  Send him to the IR.  However, this does leave the Rams shockingly thin at Defensive Tackle.  Look for the Rams to add DT to their wishlist over the weekend.
