Wildcat?

Tru: Hey Jim,

I was wondering if you have seen or heard anything about the Rams featuring some “Wildcat” in their offense this year and if you cant say, i understand.

thanks
Jim Thomas: All I can say on this subject is: Stay tuned.

Sounds like the Rams will ride the Wildhog/cat train in 2009. As long as this features a direct snap and read by Steven Jackson, I don’t see how it wouldn’t help to have in our arsenal.

As Advanced Football Stats has studied, as an underdog in most of our games, we will need some boom or bust plays to upset the better teams on our schedule.  And the “Wild-Ram” does satisfy that requirement.

  1. Justin says:

Is it just me or is the wildcat offense just a spread option? Just sick of everyone thinking the dolphins are a bunch of football wizards..

    • Jeff Roman says:

Yup, Justin, it is stolen straight from college football.

Also, what I find annoying is any direct snap to the running back, the announcers are all yelling “wildcat!!”. When its just a glorified direct snap with a read play like we saw Brad Smith run at Mizzou a thousand times.
