Jacob Bell Packs on the Pounds

First and foremost, I know there are now a lot of Jason’s on the Rams new rebuilt offensive line.  2 out of the 5 starters are named Jason, but there is one player named Jacob.  The St. Louis Post Dispatch had it wrong in their headline about Jacob Bell.  They called him Jason.  Ouch.

So anyway, Jacob is adding weight to his frame to get up to around 300 pounds for this year.  This is a great sign for the Rams because 2008 saw the Rams new big money signing get out-muscled by all the interior lineman in the NFC West.  With the added size, Bell will be able to add strength.  It also will help that Bell is playing next to potential Pro-Bowl center Jason Brown and not the group of undersized centers the Rams started in 2008.  It is hard to say if Bell’s problems in 2008 were his fault or the fault of the line around him.  His added strength and the improved line around him will only help Bell in 2009.

The Rams offensive line in 2009 will be bigger, stronger and more tenacious with the additions of Jason Brown, Jason Smith and the reincarnation of Jacob Bell.
