Rams Select Brooks Foster in 5th Round

Using Atlanta’s pick (which was involved in the trade for WR Robinson) the Rams picked up Brooks Foster, a Wide Receiver from UNC.

I think it was a wise move to wait to draft a WR. After the first two rounds, most of the players were gone that could have made an immediate impact, which was what the Rams needed at the position anyway. I still think the Rams will try and pick up a veteran WR, like Amani Toomer, post draft, to try and train and teach all these young players.

As far as Foster goes, He has good speed, to combine with a good, natural burst off of the line. He has long arms, and has the ability to catch badly positioned throws. Unfortunately, NFP states that his biggest concern is fluidity. He also isn’t that good of a route runner. But I think it is a good pick because his technique can be refined, which could help him tremendously. His last three years at UNC he compiled 97 catches for 1,237 yards and 6 touchdowns.

I’m expecting him to compete for depth or a special teams slot, but with many WR’s that are very young on the team, nothing is guaranteed.
