Two Weeks Before The Draft: Where Are We?

The Rams have the second overall pick in the draft and there is no more consensus about who the Rams should draft than two months before the draft.  The Rams also have a high pick (3rd) in the second round and could catch a falling talented player or they could move up in the bottom of the first round to get the player they want.

In the first round:

Rams Gab has endorsed Aaron Curry for the selection.

Eugene Monroe is the devil’s advocate selection.

Michael Crabtree is the darkhorse for the pick.

Jason Smith is also in the running at #2 overall.

In the second round:

There should be lots of options depending on who the Rams pick in the first round.  Don’t rule out WR in the second round if one of the talented group of Heyward-Bey (not likely), Kenny Britt (likely), Hakeem Nicks(getting likelier), or Brian Robiskie (getting less likely) drop to our second round selection.  The Rams brain trust are saying that the Laurent Robinson acquistion does not prevent the Rams from picking a WR in the first few rounds.  Bu, what are they going to say, “Oh yea, we aren’t picking a WR at the top of the draft.”  That would be back draft strategy.

So, don’t count out a WR in rounds 1-3, but it is not as much of a slam dunk as a few weeks ago.  Take everything you read and hear with a grain of salt over the next 2 weeks.

Isn’t the draft fun?
