Rams Sign Bajema

TE Billy Bajema signed with the Rams today, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Contract details were not disclosed, but expect something in the range of former-Ram (now Cardinal) Anthony Becht, who Bajema replaced as the teams blocking TE. Bajema, who is 26, has spent four years with the San Francisco 49er’s as, you guessed it, their blocking specialist at the TE position.

As far as an impact on offense, look for him to give support by blocking. He’s never been much of a receiving threat at all, only notching 7 catches for 88 yards in his four years in the NFL.

It looks like the new organization is putting the pressure of Steven Jackson, by signing FB Mike Karney and picking up Bajema (along with the signing of C Jason Brown), it doesn’t give him as many people to point the finger at in terms of opening up holes.

In other Rams news, it appears that the signings of QB Gus Frerotte and CB Jason Craft will take place before the draft begins.
