Would the Rams Consider WR Percy Harvin in Round 2?

He has skills. He has physique. He is a big play guy, similar to Terrell Owens.

Unfortunately that is not where the Owens comparisons stop. Wide receiver Percy Harvin is a difficult person to deal with in the locker room according to some.

The Florida Gator left school early to enter this year’s draft. Coming from the Florida Gators he has a pedigree of success. His breakaway speed and ability to go over the middle make him a tempting target on draft day.

Scouts Inc. rank him as a mid round pick in the first round. But with Crabtree falling at least out of the top two picks I suspect teams will shy away from Harvin.

The reasons for him to be available at number 34 is that he is considered as injury prone, he has been riddled with injuries in college. This could be due to his relatively lighter frame for a receiver, as he goes in the hard areas he gets a bit beat up.

Of course character questions make it possible he will slide down. If so the Rams may need to consider grabbing him.

Harvin could be many things. He may not be worth it as a project. But the draft to some extent is a crap shoot, kids from lower drafts rounds can become mainstays on their team while first rounders can blow up under the expectations.

However, the Rams have need at wide receiver. They need another player who can be a target for quarterback Marc Bulger, while he cannot be Tory Holt he could be a fine second. Under the right coach Harvin could be a great player, in the role of a Randy Moss in New England rather than Oakland.

So if I was to recommend someone for the second round, grab him if he falls that far.
