Rams Hire Sylvester Croom

The Rams recently brought on ex-Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom as their running backs coach.  This is a great hire for quite a few reasons.

First and foremost, Croom has experience running a full team, something that a lot of the Rams current coaches do not and will undoubtedly be a very valuable asset to the Rams coaching staff.

Secondly, Croom had many years experience as a running back coach in the NFL before joining Miss State.  He won’t have a whole lot of work to do with Steven Jackson, just a few pointers here and there.  But, the Rams are currently in the market for a 2nd running back to spell Jackson and Croom could help mold that back.  The position may be filled internally with candidates Justin Leonard, Ken Darby and Antonio Pittman.  If Croom can get more out of these three characters, and one of them can be a good second back, Croom will have done his job admirably.
