Was Spags Second Choice and Other Speculation
First and foremost, I could not be happier with the hiring of Spagnuolo, but there is still some rumors out there.
Profootballtalk.com is reporting that Jason Garrett was the number one choice for GM Billy Devaney. However, Garrett was not the choice for possibly a few reasons. First and foremost, they say that Garrett wanted more money than the Rams were offering. Whether he turned down a contract is unclear. Another speculation is that the fan backlash when it looked like Garrett was the pick was so great that the Rams had no choice but to move on. Way to go us! For a franchise that is working hard rebuilding their fanbase, that is a savvy move.
Rumors also are flying that the Rams moved on Spags quickly to keep him away from the Chiefs. Good move.
Profootballtalk also has Coach Spagnuolo hiring Eagles Quarterbacks Coach Pat Shumur as Offensive Coordinator and Giants Linebackers Coach Bill Sheridan as Defensive Coordinator.

I’m so so SO-SO glad we didn’t get Garrett. Spagnuolo is a far better fit for the Rams bearing in mind our recent round one draft picks (Long, Carriker), and I would also say a much more proven too.
