With the Giants loss this Sunday, the Rams will ask for a receive permission to interview Giants Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.  With the Giants’ season offer, the Rams can comfortably interview and even offer the job to Spagnuolo.  That gives him an advantage over another potential favorite, Rex Ryan.  Ryan can only be interviewed, but not offered the job.  Rams owner Chip Rosenbloom has already said that he is willing to pay Spagnuolo’s reported 6 million dollar a year salary.

Brian Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch found an interview with Rams GM Billy Devaney in which he spoke about Spagnuolo.  Here’s the goodness:

“‘Spags?’” asked Devaney. “He’s one of the best. We haven’t sent in a consent form for ‘Spags’ yet, but we go way back. He’s a good friend of mine.”

Devaney interviewed Spagnuolo last year and now will get to interview him again.  With such a close relationship with Spagnuolo and Devaney, the Rams would be able to have the streamline front office that all the best organizations have so that they can keep producing the best players year after year.  Look for Spagnuolo to jump into the Leslie Frazier and Jim Haslett final round grouping.
