Rams Get Permission for Four More Interviews

The Rams got permission to interview four more head coaching candidates this morning the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting.  The coaches are Todd Bowles of Miami and Leslie Frazier of Minnesota, who have just had their season’s ended.  I have to say I am impressed with Frazier, who bottled up Brian Westbrook except for one crucial play.

The Rams also got permission for Ray Sherman, the wide receivers coach for the Dallas Cowboys…no wonder he wants a new job.

Also, the Rams finally got permission to interview Rex Ryan who is considered by some to be the favorite for the Rams job.  The Ravens season is still going on, so no word on when he will be available to interview, but it will more than likely be after this weekend’s game.

I can understand Rex Ryan being on their list, but Frazier and Sherman, you have to be kidding me. Also consider the players that Ryan has playing for him, i dont think he can do the same job with just anybody. Fassel is the clear and correct choice for the Rams

If Rex Ryan has ANYTHING to do with personnel for his defense, he is clearly an excellent evaluator of talent. The hits just keep on coming in BAL. Fassel is, to me, a coordinator at heart; not a head coach. Moss; I really don’t know anything about, and the receivers coach from the Cowboys: Really?? I have been saying for at least two years that if Shanahan became available we should move quickly to grab him, but he doesn’t sound like he’s going to coach this year. That returns us, at least to me, to Ryan. If he comes in, then a solid, aggressive, O.C. would be critical, because his focus is clearly the defensive side of the ball. That might be a spot for Fassel. We’ll see, but I still think that there is significant offensive talent on this team (although lacking in O-line quality) and some standouts on defense. The right moves in the offseason, and this is an 8-8, or slightly better, team. Go get ’em Billy!

How can you say Fassel is only a coordinator, he has been much more successful has HC. Some coaches make coordinator and some HC, clearly Fassel is a HC. Some examples, Norv Turner and Wade Phillips. Better coordinators than HC. Turner has a loosing record as HC and Phillips has never won a playoff game. How about Dick Juron in Buffalo, he has one winning season in 9 years as a HC. Marvin Lewis is a great DC but not HC. Look at Mangini and Crennel, better coordinators, not HC. Thats why the Rams need to hire someone with HC experience and not take a chance with a coordinator that is not proven as a HC.
