Week 16 Prediction: Rams Look to Break Streak vs Niners

It’s been a tough year every way you look at it for the 2-12 Rams, and Sunday they will try to at least give their fans one good show at home as they take on the 5-9 49’ers at the Edward Jones Dome.  The Niners have been playing a lot better under interim head coach Mike Singletary, beating the Bills on the road and the Jets at home in back-to-back weeks.  They dominated the Fins last week, but gave up two big plays in a 14-9 loss.

The big story here may again be the status of Niners RB Frank Gore, who has been missing practice and again will be a game-time decision for the showdown.  Even if he plays though, don’t look for much from him in this one.  That means theNiners need a solid game from QB Shaun Hill, who last week was 30-for-46 for 233 yards and was sacked five times for minus 27 yards.

The Rams are a mess.  They have dropped 8 in a row, and last week led 17-7, but then fell in the end to the Seahawks 23-20 on the last play of the game.  What else can you say, they are ranked 27th on offense, 29th on defense, and they seem to find a way to make a lot of mistakes that take away any chances of them winning on a weekly basis.

So in the end, the Niners are the better team.  They already have beaten the Rams once, and even here on the road they are the better team, and at 5-9 should have enough to pull out a win even without a healthy Frank Gore.
