Jets Stomp Rams 47-3

The Rams regress to their Week 1 through 4 abilities as the Rams were demolished by the Jets and Thomas Jones in Week 10 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  The Rams were quickly down 17 points in the first quarter and were down 40 points at half time.  Nothing good can be said about the Rams for this game.  Usually, we will try to find something good to say about the Rams even in blowout defeat, but there is nothing redeemable for the Rams.

The Rams were doomed by mistakes, missed opportunities and bad play.  The Rams offensive line and defensive lines were dominated by the Jets.  Marc Bulger got hit and fumbled in the first quarter and the Jets returned the fumble for a touchdown to make the game quickly 17-0.

The Rams offense never got on the same page as Antonio Pittman was bottled up; Marc Bulger misfired repeatedly and was replaced at half time.  Whether he was replaced because of ineffectiveness or to spare Bulger from more pain from the Jets dominating offensive line is unclear.  Kenneth Darby had a few decent runs, but ruined all his good will with a lost fumble.  I almost went with a highlight there, but Darby led the Rams with 32 rushing yards on four attempts, but one of those attempts resulted in a fumble.

The Rams had no chance in the game once the Jets ran out to a big lead.  The Rams tried to do too much to get back into the game, which lead to fumbles, interceptions and mistakes.

Perhaps the post-Linehan bounce was just that, a bounce.  The Rams were opportunistic in their two wins by taking advantage of turnovers, not turning the ball over and capitalizing on big plays.  The Rams were completely the opposite in week 10 as they dropped two interceptions, turned over the ball 5 times and made enough mistakes for three weeks for other teams.  I don’t know what to think about the Jim Haslett Rams at this point, but after two clunkers in a row it is clear that the Rams still need fixing.
