Will He Or Won’t He: Week 2

Steven Jackson is in his second week of being very questionable for Sunday’s game.  Coach Haslett called him “a question mark” for Sunday’s game.  He was “limited in practice” on Wednesday and split carries with Antonio Pittman and Travis Minor.  That looks like bad news as far as Jackson is concerned.

But, when pressed for comment, Jackson said that he is “practicing to play”.  So, on the other hand, that looks like good news for Jackson.

Could Haslett be playing possum by holding Jackson out of practice a bit and getting him on the injury report?    That would force the Arizona defense to prepare for much more than Jackson.  Haslett could be holding Jackson out to limit his reps in practice so that he is fresh on Sunday.  It pays to be conservative with the Rams best offensive player so that he does not risk further injury.  However, needless to say, the Rams need Jackson this week against the Arizona Cardinals.

FRIDAY UPDATE: Bill Coats of Around the Horns is reporting that Jackson saw his most extensive work of the week in practice on Friday.  Of course this is good news, but Coach Haslett is throwing a wet towel on the fire by insisting Jackson is still a game-time decision on Sunday.

Additionally, Leonard Little and Adam Carriker saw the most work of the week on Friday.  Having those two back would go a long way toward limiting the Arizona Cardinals potent passing attack and keeping the pressure off the Rams improving corners.
