Rumors Circle the Rams

The Rams have had rumors circling over them for weeks and now about the status of head coach Scott Linehan and now that he is fired, that has sparked more rumors and speculation.

Now that Haslett is the head coach, is Bulger back as the starting QB?  Profootballtalk.com (as usual) has the jump on that rumor, but there is no confirmation from Rams Park.  But, with two weeks until the next game, the Rams can take their time announcing lineup changes.

Is Fakhir Brown next to return?  Brown is Haslett’s guy and has not been picked up by another team since his release last week.  With the potential injury to Tye Hill, the Rams are in need of corners and Fakhir Brown knows Haslett and his system.

As far as end of the year changes, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Brian Burwell indicated that the Rams are going to give GM Jay Zygmunt and team president John Shaw dignified retirements after the season.  Burwell has had it out for Zygmunt over the past two weeks, so his comments should be taken with a grain of salt.

Burwell also states that the Rams have interviewed two unnamed candidates for the GM position already, which is very surprising.  He thinks that they may be Ron Wolf, architect of the 90s Green Bay Packer teams and St. Louis (Football) Cardinals legend, Dan Dierdorf.  Personally, I think the RAms should make a run at Scott Pioli of the New England Patriots.  There is no chance that the Rams would be able to pry Scott Pioli away from New England, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t go all out to get the Patriots personnel expert away from Foxborough.  Many teams have tried and he has preferred to stay with the Patriots.

I’m sure we will look at candidates (both GM and coach) closer at the end of the season if what Brian Burwell says actually comes true.
