WR Caldwell Among Those Released from the Rams
Posted by Matt Loede on August 30th, 2008 in Roster Moves

The Rams are at 53 on their roster after their latest cuts. Wide receiver-return man Derek Stanley and G/C Dustin Fry, two 2007 draft picks, were both let go. Cornerback Darius Vinnett, wide receiver Brandon Williams, and offensive tackle Mark LeVoir were also released. Receiver Reche Caldwell and cornerback David Macklin, who joined the team in free agency this offseason, were let go. Defensive end C.J. Ah You, running back Lance Ball, linebacker Marc Magro, and fullback Russ Weil, along with offensive tackle Julius Wilson were all let go as well.

Lance Ball is the only one of those I’d have kept around. Macklin was torched last year and didn’t appear to have improved Caldwell, despite the big eyes, is a horrid receiver. The rest are yawns.
If Long and Carricker can’t play respectably for this defense, our legacy will be that we could’ve had Patrick Willis (drafted one spot ahead of us at #12 last year) and Glen Dorsey (this year).
Don’t know about you, but Willis/Dorsey sounds like more of an anchor than Carricker/Long.
Here’s hoping our offense improves.
