Jackson on the Field for Rams After Signing Six-Year Deal

The Rams had a most welcome sight on Thursday, as RB Steven Jackson was on the field, shortly after reports say he signed a six-year contract.  ESPN is reporting that it is a two-tiered deal, either a three-year extension worth $29.3 million with $21 million guaranteed or a five-year, $49.3 million contract that includes huge escalators in years four and five, a source told’s John Clayton.

The deal can be voided for the last two years based on his performance, but his performance can also trigger the escalators to take the five-year deal to $49.3 million.  He was entering the final season of a five-year, $7 million deal he signed as a first-round pick in 2004.  Coach Scott Linehan said that Jackson WILL be in uniform for Saturday night’s preseason game vs the Ravens, but will not play.
