Jackson on the Field for Rams After Signing Six-Year Deal

The Rams had a most welcome sight on Thursday, as RB Steven Jackson was on the field, shortly after reports say he signed a six-year contract.  ESPN is reporting that it is a two-tiered deal, either a three-year extension worth $29.3 million with $21 million guaranteed or a five-year, $49.3 million contract that includes huge escalators in years four and five, a source told ESPN.com’s John Clayton.

The deal can be voided for the last two years based on his performance, but his performance can also trigger the escalators to take the five-year deal to $49.3 million.  He was entering the final season of a five-year, $7 million deal he signed as a first-round pick in 2004.  Coach Scott Linehan said that Jackson WILL be in uniform for Saturday night’s preseason game vs the Ravens, but will not play.
