Bennett Misses Practice, Says Will Play Sunday
Posted by Matt Loede on September 4th, 2007 filed in NewsNew Rams wide out Drew Bennett did not practice on Tuesday, and while he says he will play Sunday vs the Panthers in the season opener. Bennett says that the quad injury that he is nursing got tight during a Saturday practice, but that it is good enough to play in his first game as a Ram Sunday. “I’m doing fine and I expect to play,” Bennett said. “I did a pretty good workout in the training room today. I’m anxious to make my debut. I want to be healthy.”
Bennett could be a big part of the Rams offense, as last season with the Titans, he led the team with 46 catches for 737 yards. He signed a six-year contract to become the teams third wide out behind Torry Holt and Issac Bruce. With a big start to the season though, he may be able to move up past Bruce. Bennett’s best season was in 2004, when he had personal bests with 80 receptions, 1,247 yards and 11 touchdowns and started all 16 games.
