Rice Could Pay a Visit to Rams Park Soon

RiceThe Rams could be the next team on the list that might have interest in former Cardinal and Tampa Bay defensvie end Simeon Rice.  Scott Linehan said the team does have some interest there, and that the team might bring him in for a visit soon.  Rice is a former Illinois standout and three-time Pro Bowler.  He had drawn some interest from the New York Giants, as well as the Tennessee Titans, but neither team offered the 34-year-old a contract.
Rice was coy when talking recently about his visit to New York with the Giants, a team that could have used Rice to replace Michael Strahan, who continues to hold out and is thinking about retiring.  “Who knows?” Rice said after the visit. “I don’t know anything. I’m just here prospecting, you know?”

Rice is a 12-year vet, and had been with Tampa Bay since the 2001 season.  He has appeared in 166 career games, making 121 career sacks.  Last season though, he played in just half the Bucs games, and recorded just 18 total tackles and two sacks.  The release of Rice came to a surprise to many within the Tampa Bay organization, but with the team trying to get younger, something had to give.  Now we’ll see if the Rams, who on their D-line boast ends Leonard Little and James Hall, have enough interest to give him a deal should he come in.  Last season St.Louis was tied for 19th in the league in sacks, and if Rice can get back on track to years gone by, that number could be helped out if he jumps on board with the Rams.
