REWARDS: Although Holt won’t receive the notoriety many of his more flamboyant counterparts will, the 31-year-old has consistently put up spectacular numbers throughout his career. Holt has not posted fewer than 91 receptions in his last five seasons and has seven straight 1,000-yard campaigns. He has also posted 10 or more touchdowns in three of the last four seasons. Holt was utilized in nearly 18 percent of team’s overall offensive plays last season.

RISKS: Despite another solid campaign in 2006, Holt’s numbers took a slight dip under new head coach Scott Linehan. Linehan, unlike his predecessor, Mike Martz, favors a ball-control type of offense that relies heavily on running back Steven Jackson. Holt still has soreness in his right knee after undergoing offseason surgery to repair torn meniscus cartilage. Although he says he will be fully healed by the start of training camp, Holt’s health status is something owners must keep a close eye on. With so many other weapons, Holt doesn’t need to be the focal point of the passing attack.

BOTTOM LINE: Slight medical risk aside, Holt remains a solid No. 1 option for owners and worthy of a mid-round selection. He just isn’t the same “Greatest Show on Turf” Holt of years past.
